Castleton Village
Swiss House is ideally located in the heart of the village of Castleton, Derbyshire – justifiably one of the most popular tourist locations in the Peak District National Park. A typical Derbyshire village it is nestled in the Hope valley next to Mam Tor, Kinder Scout, Lose Hill, Win Hill and Winnats Pass and has a long, rich history, fabulous views and fresh country air. The Peak District lies in the centre of the midlands and north of England, less than one hour’s drive from several major cities, including Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and Stoke-on-Trent. It is Britain’s most-visited National Park.

CASTLETON WEATHERDating back over 1,000 years Castleton prospered from the lead mining industry but is today a popular tourist destination owing to its natural limestone and gritstone surroundings (the areas of the White Peak and Dark Peak). As a result, the village has a unique offer of caves and caverns, and of course the famous Blue John, a semi-precious mineral found only here in the UK.
Castleton is very much a haven for the outdoor enthusiast who likes the hills, walking, hiking and biking but there are also many attractions and events in and around the village that cater for a variety of tastes. Most visitors come to enjoy the beautiful scenery but for those who are less energetic there are many cafes, pubs, restaurants and local shops that are perfect to while away your time.
