About Us
The Swiss House was originally built by a couple from Switzerland to capitalise on travelling rail trade. Unfortunately for the owners, the railway never came through Castleton, instead it took a route from Hope Station to Edale.
Nevertheless, the building was host to a few successful businesses from an antiques shop, a deli, Italian restaurant to its current use as a hotel and public bar, the Swiss Tap.
The Swiss Tap is so named in remembrance of its origins, the Swiss owners of the past. the bar offers a friendly atmosphere welcome to all ages. On rainy days children and adults can enjoy drinks and food whilst playing board games and listening to background music. On sunny days, the frontage is south facing so sun lovers can eat and drink outside whilst enjoying the weather.
